ICON Central Laboratories, Inc. is headquartered in Farmingdale, New York. Our company provides global central laboratory services from core facilities in New York, Dublin, Singapore and India. Since 2000, we have successfully managed the laboratory and associated investigator and logistical support requirements for hundreds of clients in virtually every phase and therapeutic area of clinical development.

In addition to being fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists and holding numerous other laboratory certifications and licenses, we are pleased to have been among the first central laboratories to receive ISO 17025 quality certification.

Our parent company, ICON plc, is a global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. The company specializes in the strategic development, management and analysis of programs that support clinical development – from compound selection to Phase I-IV clinical studies. ICON teams have successfully conducted over 5500 development projects and consultancy engagements across all major therapeutic areas. ICON currently has over 6500 employees, operating from 72 locations in 38 countries.

Depending upon each client’s needs and preferences, ICON Central Laboratories can provide central laboratory support as an individual vendor or as part of a full service clinical development package with other divisions of ICON plc.

Company History

ICON Central Laboratories and its predecessor companies have served the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries since the early 1990s. Our company evolved from NDA Laboratories that was founded in the United States in 1993 to provide central laboratory support. In 1995, in response to the industry’s growing need for global capabilities, NDA Laboratories became part of the larger UK-based company known as UCTI. In June 2000, ICON plc bought the U.S. laboratory to complement its central laboratory based in Dublin Ireland, known as Clinicon.

In 2007, the Singapore office was added to ICON Central Laboratories owned facilities, providing accessioning, reporting, sample management and storage services, and site support in the Asia – Pacific region. Routine safety testing capabilities are available with plans to expand testing further in 2009.

In 2008, ICON Central Laboratories announced the addition of the newest full service laboratory and site service center in Bangalore, India. The purpose-built, 15,000 square foot facility is in the process of receiving CAP (College of American Pathologists) and NABL (National Accreditation Board for Laboratory Testing) accreditation.

Today, ICON Central Laboratories is regarded as one of the leading central laboratories in the world.
